Research on Integrated Development of Tribal Communities

Our team of experts conducted a detailed research study on the Kumbri Marathi and Siddi Tribal Communities of Uttarakannada. The findings from this research have been included in the "Tribes of Karnataka – A Pictorial Encyclopaedia" published by the Government of Karnataka. These studies aim to inform and influence policy decisions affecting the Kumbri and Siddi communities, providing a solid foundation for advocacy efforts.
Endosulfan

Study on Endosulfan Victims

Between 2018 and 2019, SCODWES conducted a comprehensive research study on Endosulfan victims, assessing 1,498 individuals from 1,439 families across 340 villages impacted by Endosulfan exposure. The study focused on socio-demographic characteristics and the resulting disabilities, offering critical insights into the long-term effects of pesticide exposure. The findings have been submitted to the state government to advocate on behalf of the victims.

Workshops for Research Aspirants

In collaboration with the Department of Tribal Studies, Kannada University, Hampi, we have established workshops that introduce research aspirants to the complexities of indigenous tribal communities in Uttara Kannada. These workshops are designed to enhance understanding and build research capacity among participants.

Study on conservation of Sacred groves and Mangroves

SCODWES conducted an in-depth study on the conservation of sacred groves and mangroves by collaborating with professors and experts. Based on the findings of this study, project proposals have been submitted to various donor agencies to secure funding for implementing conservation initiatives in key areas.

Need Based Assessment for Sandur

To design an integrated development plan for Sandur Taluk in Ballari District, we conducted a research study in collaboration with another expert organization. Based on the findings, we aim to address potential developmental issues with the support of CSR agencies.
